Shap was an exciting place in the days of steam. Northbound Coronation Pacific, 46254 ‘City of Stoke on Trent’ is seen here approaching the summit. This view today is badly scarred by the M6 motorway but, all is not lost, through pictures we can look back and still use our imaginations.
